STATE OF EMERGENCY DECLARED

​​The Bridgewater Police Department and the Bridgewater Office of Emergency Management continue to monitor the winter weather for Sunday night into Monday and will continue to update our community. A Blizzard Warning has been issued. A State of Emergency will be in place starting 12pm Sunday, February 22.

● A significant winter storm is forecast to impact all of eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and the Eastern Shore of Maryland Sunday through Monday with moderate to major
impacts; and possible extreme impacts.

● Widespread heavy snowfall is forecast. Blizzard conditions for most areas along and southeast of the I-95 corridor. Blowing and drifting snow is likely for many areas. Significant disruptions to
travel and infrastructure are likely.

● Precipitation will likely begin as a period of light rain for most areas, before changing over to snow late Sunday morning into Sunday afternoon from north to south. For areas north of I-78,
precipitation will likely remain all snow.

● Strong winds and coastal flooding are also forecast for the Atlantic coast. Coastal Flood Warnings are now in effect for the entire Atlantic coast where widespread Moderate impacts
are likely with potentially Major coastal flood impacts possible.

If you have a fire hydrant near your residence, please assist our Fire Departments by clearing the area around them in case of an emergency.

​​NO PARKING ON SNOW EMERGENCY ROUTES

Please do not call police communications or DPW about a street not being plowed. With the amount of snow we are expecting, it may take longer than normal to clear the streets in town.

§ 206-44Schedule XVI: Snow Emergency No-Parking Areas and Areas Requiring Snow Tires or Chains

• Pursuant to the provisions of §§ 206-21 and 206-27.1, wherever snow has fallen and the accumulation is such that it covers the street or highway, no person shall park a vehicle upon either side of any of the streets or parts thereof listed below, and no person shall cause, permit, allow or suffer any vehicle owned by or driven by him to become stalled or immobile on any of the streets or parts thereof listed below because of failure of said vehicle to be equipped with snow tires or chains in good working order. (See also 39:4-56.1(b).

Snow removal can be most efficient and complete when cars are not parked on streets. Use all available garage space and consider squeezing cars onto your own driveway or front lawn.

​A reminder, clear all snow/ice from the sidewalk in front of your residence: 

• 182-1 Removal from sidewalks by owners; time limit and § 182-1.2 Dumping snow or ice on traveled way. 

If you lose power, contact your local power provider and not Police Communications unless an emergency exists (ie. power line causing a fire or blocking a roadway):

Treat all downed power lines as if they are still live. Do not approach or touch any downed line. It is encouraged to charge all cell phones and have extra batteries in the event you lose power.​
